Are radiant floor systems more efficient than forced-air in a New Berlin home?
Radiant floor systems can be highly efficient because they deliver heat at lower water temperatures and eliminate duct losses. A modern condensing boiler operating at 90%+ efficiency combined with well-insulated slab tubing typically performs very well. What is the expansion tank, and why does it fail?
An expansion tank absorbs the volume increase as boiler water heats up, keeping system pressure stable. Over time, the internal diaphragm can rupture, leaving the tank waterlogged.
