Heat Pump Installation for Brookfield Homes

Cold-climate heat pumps give Brookfield homeowners another option for efficient, year-round heating and cooling. Today's systems are designed to perform in cold weather while providing both heating and air conditioning from a single system. Burkhardt Heating, Cooling, Plumbing & Electric installs heat pump systems throughout Brookfield and Waukesha County, helping homeowners find the right equipment for their home, existing HVAC system, and comfort needs.

Cold-Climate Heat Pump Performance

Modern cold-climate heat pumps are designed to continue operating as outdoor temperatures drop, making them a practical option for Wisconsin homes. Rather than generating heat through combustion, heat pumps transfer heat between the home and outdoor air, providing efficient heating in winter and cooling in summer.

Brookfield includes a mix of older homes and newer construction, so heat pump installation isn't one-size-fits-all. The home's size, existing HVAC equipment, insulation, electrical capacity, and comfort needs can all affect which system and installation approach make the most sense.

Dual Fuel Heat Pump Systems

For homeowners with a gas furnace, a dual fuel or hybrid system can pair a cold-climate heat pump with furnace backup. The heat pump can handle heating during much of the season, while the furnace is available when conditions make gas heat the better option. This allows homeowners to take advantage of heat pump efficiency without giving up the reliability of a traditional furnace during Wisconsin's coldest weather.

Choosing the Right Heat Pump for Your Brookfield Home

Proper system selection and sizing are important parts of a heat pump installation. Burkhardt evaluates the home's heating and cooling needs, existing equipment, and installation requirements before recommending a system. Depending on the home, options may include a standalone heat pump or a dual fuel system paired with a furnace.

Heat Pump Rebates and Financing

Wisconsin Focus on Energy may offer rebates for eligible heat pump systems. Available incentives can vary based on the equipment selected and current program requirements. Financing options are also available for qualified customers.

Frequently Asked Questions About Heat Pumps in Brookfield

Can a heat pump work through a Wisconsin winter?
Yes. Modern cold-climate heat pumps are designed to provide heating even when outdoor temperatures drop below freezing. Some Brookfield homeowners also choose a dual fuel system, which pairs a heat pump with a gas furnace for additional heating support during very cold weather.

What rebates are available for heat pump installation in Brookfield?
Wisconsin Focus on Energy may offer rebates for eligible heat pump systems. Available incentives can vary based on the equipment, household, and current program requirements. Our team can help identify applicable programs during your consultation.

Can I add a heat pump to my existing furnace?
In many cases, yes. A heat pump can be paired with a compatible gas furnace to create a dual fuel system. Whether this makes sense depends on your existing equipment, home, and comfort needs, so the system should be evaluated before installation.

How do I know what size heat pump my Brookfield home needs?
Heat pump sizing depends on factors such as the home's size, insulation, layout, existing HVAC system, and heating and cooling requirements. Burkhardt evaluates these factors when recommending equipment rather than selecting a system based on square footage alone.

Does a heat pump provide both heating and air conditioning?
Yes. Heat pumps can heat your home during colder weather and reverse operation to provide cooling during warmer months, allowing one system to provide year-round comfort.
